More important than ever: the work of “the Arch”

The continuously high inflation in Germany has hit families with little or no income the hardest: their already tight budgets are often not enough to cope with food price increases of up to 50 percent. This is where the aid project "Die Arche" (“the arch”) comes into play: socially disadvantaged children and families benefit on a daily basis from the work of the children's foundation, which offers free homework supervision and tutoring as well as free lunch for pupils. In addition, Die Arche facilitates a variety of leisure activities and holiday camps for children and teens. The programme also includes help and advice for parents.

A Social Day best spent where help is particularly needed

Deutsche Börse Commodities has been supporting the children's foundation "Die Arche", founded in 1995, with annually donations for many years. In 2022, the company extended its support for the children's foundation: when the Ark needed energetic help by people for World Children's Day, this was the opportunity for the Deutsche Börse Commodities team to roll up its sleeves and help. "The work of the Ark is indispensable - as is the commitment of all of us," said Managing Directors Dr. Michael König and Steffen Orben, explaining their help while they made World Children's Day their personal Social Day. This week, on 20 September 2023, they repeated their day of action at the Children's Foundation.

Helping directly where it matters is just as important as financial aid

Together with their team colleagues Mateja Maric, Martina Jantzen and Huyen Dang, Dr Michael König and Steffen Orben took a day off from Xetra Gold business and helped with the food distribution, whereby the extensive pizza order naturally went down particularly well with the children and youngsters. Afterwards, they helped the pupils with their homework, and later that day also exchanging views with them on extracurricular topics, and taking part in the games that followed.
