Already more than 60 episodes of the “Goldwissen” podcast
News Arnulf Hinkel, Finanzjournalist – 12.10.2023

Quite a while before the first “Goldwissen” (German for “gold knowledge”) podcast went online on 17 September 2020, Xetra-Gold issuer Deutsche Börse Commodities agreed that there should be something on the topic of gold for private investors to listen to. It was important that, on the one hand, seasoned stock market professionals should have their say, but on the other hand, the podcast should also be approachable for novices. This was ensured via a short introduction to the respective topic as well as a fine balancing act by podcast host Mario Müller-Dofel, author, trainer and business journalist, who has a way of asking his market expert guests the right questions. Each podcast episode closes with a gold update based on the very latest information.
First the basics – then the special topics
First, important basic topics for gold investors and anyone interested in investing in gold were covered – such as “10 factors influencing the gold price” in the very first podcast or “The most important and best ways to invest in gold” in the second. Topics such as “Portfolio diversification” and “Investing: in gold or in gold equities?” quickly followed. These basic topics were complemented by detailed expert articles, available online on the Xetra-Gold website. Later, the focus shifted to special topics such as “The gold/silver ratio” or “Euro vs. dollar”. In addition, current developments were regularly addressed, such as the impact of key interest rate hikes on the gold price. The most frequently downloaded episode also dealt with a current topic: “War and inflation: what is happening to gold now”. Also, sustainability was – and will certainly remain – a recurring theme.
Illustrious guests at the microphone
Over the past three years, no less than twelve stock market professionals have answered questions in the Goldwissen Podcast. Michael Blumenroth, commodities analyst at Deutsche Bank, Steffen Orben, Managing Director of Deutsche Börse Commodities, Robert Halver, Head of Capital Market Analysis at Baader Bank, and Kerstin Hottner, commodities fund manager at the Swiss asset management company Vontobel, proved to be particularly frequent guests. Commerzbank expertise was also represented by Carsten Fritsch, Ulrich Leuchtmann and Eugen Weinberg. Other important contributions came from market professionals such as Stephan Kraus, Eugen Keller and Udo Rettberg. Guya Merkle, founder of the Earthbeat Foundation, and Dr Bernhard Fuchs, CEO of the precious metals company and recycling expert Umicore, talked about the increasingly important topics environment and recycling. The concentrated expert knowledge has been well received: The “Goldwissen” podcast has already been downloaded over 24,000 times.
A new podcast episode is released every other Friday on the Xetra-Gold website, Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Please note that the podcast is only available in German.
